South Shore Grill
lets taco about it
Welcome to your new favorite spot on the South Shore. Home to the islands BEST fish tacos, burgers, and peanut butter temptations - (if you know, you know). This eclectic grill proudly sits on the heart of Monsarrat and is a place not to miss on the island.
Over the last three months I have had the pleasure of working as a team member here and have nothing but amazing things to say. First off SSG is the definition of a surfers dream- from the filling eats, to restocking their wax supply South Shore has you covered. The casual environment makes it a fun experience for the customer and team to be in. Feel free to draw on our chalk wall, or talk story over some delicious food with buds. SSG also has a BYOB policy (as if it could get any better) and don't forget those brews!
South Shore serves up some of the best comfort food on island. Pictured above is the SSG Burger with homemade fried onion, slaw, garlic aioli, lettuce and tomatoes, all served on a freshly baked Ciabatta roll (are you hungry yet :)) Over the three months I have met at lest 10 regulars, and some people come everyday! The food here is so good, and there is something on the menu for every tastebud.
Don't be surprised if you swing by on a Tuesday and the line is wrapped around the building! Taco Tuesday is a big deal here at SSG, and the whole South Shore knows it! Come by for a $2.50 taco and you won't be disappointed. The wait may be long but i promise it's worth it :)
While your waiting for the goods make sure to browse the galleries on the walls! Bruce, the owner, loves working with his community and proudly displays local artists prints on his walls. You can buy any of these pieces as well to take some Aloha home with you so don't be shy if you see something you love.
Also, don't be surprised if an adorable 8 year old is a your service behind the counter. Bruce's daughter Chloe is more than special! She impresses every soul that walks in that door with her incredible skills taking orders, giving change, and delving it all with the cutest smile. She loves 'working' here and is so much fun to be around!
While I may not have been around here long, the SSG team, customers, and people of Monsarrat have been a dream to be around. I will honestly miss working here and serving up the daily grindz, but I know that I can always come back to 'home' here at South Shore Grill. Until then Mahalo to my customers, the Staff, and Bruce for making these last three months some of the best I've had here in Hawaii.
